Raiders Former Oft-Injured Cornerback Already Under the Knife in Green Bay

The Raiders might have made a mistake when they let Josh Jacobs go to Green Bay a year ago, but it feels like they made a better decision on the latest Vegas transplant to jump ship to the Packers.

According to a Sports Illustrated report on Monday, Nate Hobbs recently underwent knee surgery and is hopeful to be back by the start of the regular season…

“Subscribing to the notion that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, Green Bay Packers starting cornerback Nate Hobbs had a minor procedure done on his knee, a source told Packers On SI on Monday evening. He could return in about three weeks, giving him time to get back in the swing of things for the regular season.”

Hobbs signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers in March and anyone that followed Hobbs in Las Vegas knows he was worth the contract from a talent perspective, but the Packers were taking a huge risk given his injury history.

It sounds like Hobbs may have undergone a simple meniscus trim of something along those lines, but it’s concerning to see him already having trouble staying on the field.

$48 million with $16 million guaranteed is a lot to spend on almost any cornerback, but to give that to a player that’s been injured in each of the last three seasons was one of the biggest gambles of the 2025 free agency period.
