Raiders Deliver Jaw-Dropping, Earth-Shattering ‘Cornerstone’ Coup At The Perfect Moment To Ignite Silver And Black Resurgence

The Las Vegas Raiders have made one of their most significant offseason moves yet, extending the franchise’s longest-tenured player, left tackle Kolton Miller, to a three-year, $66 million contract extension, with $42.5 million guaranteed.

This move not only secures the blindside for the foreseeable future, but it also solidifies the culture shift under new head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

A Leader Rewarded: Raiders Commit to Kolton Miller

GettyThe Las Vegas Raiders’ extension of star left tackle Kolton Miller resulted in a win-win for both sides.

Miller, a first-round pick in 2018, has quietly become one of the most reliable and underappreciated left tackles in the NFL. The new deal ensures he’ll remain a Raider through 2027, rewarding both his on-field consistency and leadership.

Last season, Miller earned an 80.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 14th out of 140 qualified tackles. He has also started in 107 games since 2018, which are the 10th most in the NFL among offensive linemen over that span (5th among tackles).

Not only that, Miller averages just 0.28 penalties per game, the second-lowest mark among tackles, and allowed just 9.8% pressure last season, the ninth-lowest mark among tackles in the NFL with at least 600 pass blocking snaps.

And even if the Raiders haven’t had the results the team has hoped for, Miller always knew he wanted to be a Raider for life. “I’ve been here for a long time, man. This is what I do,” Miller said during a press conference when talking about a possible extension. “I want to be a Raider for life… love it here. I don’t want to go anywhere else. I only know one way to do it, and that’s showing up and getting better each day.”

Now, Miller got his wish, and the Raiders also didn’t break the bank. He is still just the 11th highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL with an $22 million annual salary. A win-win for both sides.

Building a New Culture with Familiar Pillars

Miller praised the direction the team is heading under Carroll and Kelly, citing a renewed sense of competition and productivity during offseason workouts.

“The pieces we’ve added this offseason, the energy, the direction — Pete has really master crafted coming in and how to do things, and the guys, we’re taking it and we’re rolling. It’s been really fun, and we’ve gotten so much — this is probably one of the most productive OTAs I’ve been a part of.”

With uncertainty still looming at other key positions, more so on defense, locking down one of the most important spots on the offensive line is huge. Especially since Miller has been a proven cornerstone and is still just 29 years old.

Miller’s extension not only secures elite pass protection for Geno Smith or any future quarterback, but it also sends a clear message to the locker room: perform, lead, and you’ll be rewarded.
