The Las Vegas Raiders still have a few glaring needs on the roster, especially cornerback.
Though the team signed Eric Stokes, drafted Darien Porter, and also has Jakorian Bennett, the cornerback room is incredibly unproven and is clearly the weak link of the defense.
Stokes, Porter, and Bennett will compete for two starting spots at corner in training camp. However, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin believes Las Vegas should look to add a bonafide starter to the position room in Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean.
Las Vegas is a logical landing spot firstly because new coach Pete Carroll still lacks formidable answers at cornerback, secondly because the Raiders have more than $30 million in available cap space, and thirdly because there's a personal connection here: New general manager John Spytek directed the Bucs' player personnel department when Dean was drafted in 2019.
Dean has started 63 games at corner since entering the league in 2019 and was a key part of Tampa Bay's 2021 defense that was the engine of their Super Bowl run.
Tampa Bay could look to move on from Dean, as he is on an expensive contract and has never played a full season. The Bucs also used a second-round pick in April's draft on Benjamin Morrison, who figures to be Dean's replacement.
The Raiders could use a player like Dean in the secondary, as he has a ton of starting experience and has allowed just a 58.6% completion rate and an 85.3 passer rating when targeted in his career.
General manager John Spytek, who was a part of Tampa Bay's front office when they drafted Dean in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, could send a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to acquire the veteran corner and address one of the most pressing needs on Pete Carroll's squad.
