Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby Becomes First Ever Active General Manager

‘The Condor’ is adding on to his legacy in dramatic fashion. Starting this season, Maxx Crosby, the two-time All-Pro edge rusher, becomes the assistant general manager of the Eastern Michigan Eagles–his college club. This title entails recruiting both transfer portal and high school prospects to the university. Additionally, the Raider defensive end will assist in managing EMU’s revenue share budget.

Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby Becomes First Ever Active General Manager

Crosby has already started his recruiting.

“There is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University,” Crosby said.

Maxx Crosby Has A Huge Impact On Eastern Michigan

Not only is he a part of the front office, but Crosby has also become a name for a position on defense. The weakside defensive end position will now be called “The Maxx”. Inspired by the EMU alum, the best pass rusher will also wear the number 92 in his honor.

Crosby holds the school’s single-season sack record with 11.

Furthermore, the Raiders star has already donated $1 million to the university. Eastern Michigan was so grateful that football is now played on Crosby Field in Rynearson Stadium.

In addition to his previous donations, ‘Mad Maxx’ launched a new fundraising challenge called the Maxx Match. Until the end of May, Crosby will be matching any donation up to $100,000. EMU Vice President Scott Wetherbee believes this move is inspiring for the culture.

“Maxx is challenging all of us to step up and invest in something bigger than ourselves,” Wetherbee said.

Will this affect Crosby’s performance with the Raiders?

Although Crosby is the first ever active NFL player to take on such a role, he is not the first active professional athlete in general to do so. Stephen Curry and Trae Young are two notable professional athletes who have taken on a front office role while simultaneously continuing their playing careers. Both of these stars are also assistant general managers at their alma mater.

Neither of these two players have seen a decline in their play as a result.

There’s no reason Crosby won’t continue being a dominant force moving forward just as he always has been. This is simply an addition to his off-field legacy. Nonetheless, this could be a foreshadow for what his life entails after retirement.
