The Seattle Seahawks hit the reset button on the team’s offensive roster this offseason. One analyst is floating the idea of making one more dramatic move ahead of Week 1.
The Seahawks parted ways with DK Metcalf and are hoping the addition of Cooper Kupp can help replace some of the star’s production. Additionally, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is expected to be headed for an even larger role as the team’s top receiver in 2025.
Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski detailed his top potential landing spots for Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill and has the Seahawks among the best options.
Let’s dive into whether a trade for Hill would be prudent for the Seahawks.
Sobleski’s trade proposal has Seattle land Hill in exchange for sending safety Coby Bryant and a 2026 fifth-round draft selection to Miami. The price for the eight-time Pro Bowler is not particularly high in terms of assets, but the risk of adding Hill could be felt in other ways.
“Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak also came from the Shanahan tree, just a different branch than (Mike) McDaniel’s,” Sobleski wrote in an August 11, 2025, story titled, “Top Trade Packages for Tyreek Hill With Multiple Teams Interested in Dolphins WR.” “Still, he can see how the Dolphins have deployed Hill and incorporate those wrinkles into Seattle’s offense.
“Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Kupp are both outstanding, high-volume targets. Hill is a superior outside receiver, who provides a much-needed extra threat considering Kupp has missed at least five games in each of the last three seasons,” Sobleski continued.
“If the Seahawks want the version of (Sam) Darnold that showed up last season for the Minnesota Vikings, he needs premium weapons in the lineup.”
The financial implications would be significant for Seattle as Hill is slated to have two seasons remaining on a three-year, $90 million contract. Hill’s cap hit is $27.6 million in 2025 and jumps up to a sizable $51.8 million in 2026, per Spotrac.
The Dolphins have an out in Hill’s deal that would allow the franchise to cut ties with the wideout while taking a $15.5 million dead cap hit in 2026. It is hard to argue against the addition of Hill giving the Seahawks a more potent offense on paper.
Yet, the financial ramifications along with the potential pitfalls of adding Hill to the roster should give the front office pause before making this kind of aggressive move.
Part of the reason Hill is being floated in ongoing NFL trade rumors is because there is a cloud of drama surrounding the talented playmaker in Miami. The other reason Hill may not make sense for Seattle is the emergence of some of the Seahawks young receivers.
Fifth-round pick Tory Horton is far from a household name, but the rookie has been one of the standouts during training camp. The addition of Hill would be sure to generate buzz in Seattle, but the Seahawks may be wise to see how the current offensive weapons vibe with Sam Darnold before striking such a blockbuster trade.
