The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for an exciting year on offense—or at least, that’s the hope. All eyes and pressure are on Jordan Love, as fans and analysts alike anticipate a breakout season.
Rookie Matthew Golden is expected to be a major asset for Love, with some boldly predicting he could reach 1,000 receiving yards this season.
“The Packers made waves with their decision to select Golden at No. 23 overall. After an offseason filled with conversations about how the Packers ‘need’ to add a No. 1 receiver for Love, they broke from tradition and drafted the fleet-footed Golden. While the Packers’ logjam at receiver raises questions about whether any Packers pass-catcher will exceed 1,000 yards in 2025, Golden has the best chance to get the job done,” Heavy.com’s Jordan J. Wilson wrote.
If Golden thrives, it could put Romeo Doubs on the trade block. A potential three-team deal might send Doubs to the Raiders, while the Packers would add a much-needed pass rusher.
“The Packers didn't invest much in the edge defender position this offseason, despite underwhelming production from the group in 2024. Even though general manager Brian Gutekunst is not exactly aggressive in the trade market, Kayvon Thibodeaux is the type of player he would consider. The edge rusher is young, plays at a premium position, is a former top-5 pick, and has a track record of solid production in the NFL,” A To Z Sports’ Wendell Ferriera wrote. “Parting ways with Romeo Doubs might not be an easy decision, but he's entering the final year of his rookie deal, the Packers haven't wanted to give him an early extension, and his ceiling is limited.”
This trade would be appealing for the Packers, giving them a player with tremendous potential while moving a player who may not remain on the roster next season. Green Bay already has a solid roster, and this move would further strengthen it.
