Pittsburgh Sports Radio Host Is Losing His Mind Over The Steelers’ Latest Decision, Which Is One Of The Funniest Things On The Internet

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the best teams in the NFL’s history, but they have failed to win a playoff game under head coach Mike Tomlin since 2016. On Monday afternoon, Pittsburgh rewarded Tomlin with a three-year contract extension, keeping him with the Steelers at least through 2027. Many Steelers fans were very happy about the deal, but one local sports radio host wasn’t feeling it.

Andrew Fillipponi from 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh is among the world’s best local sports radio hosts. When he is not getting dominated in sports debates by Cleveland radio host Ken Carman from 92.3 The Fan, he gives off great takes about his local teams. On Monday afternoon, he took to his social media account X to get his feelings off his chest about Mike Tomlin getting a three-year contract extension.

Fillipponi repeatedly stated that Tomlin has not won a playoff game since 2016, and 27 coaches in the NFL have won a playoff game more recently than Tomlin.

Tomlin has had 17 straight seasons of finishing with a .500 record or better, which is one of the main reasons he has been able to stay with the Steelers as long as he has. Still, Fillipponi does have a good case of why the Steelers are giving him another three years since he has failed to win in the most important of the season.

Here are the tweets Fillipponi had on Monday that showed his feelings about Tomlin’s new deal.

7 years without a playoff win. But by all means. Let’s give the man a raise and more years. Definition of accepting mediocrity.

Doug Marrone has 2 playoff wins since Tomlin’s last playoff win.

Coaches last 30 years to go 7 years with 1 team w/o a playoff win:

-Marvin Lewis
-Mike Tomlin

Nice company.

So if the Steelers go 7-10. Both QBs can’t play. And the Steelers miss the playoffs. To make it 8 years without a playoff win. Tomlin is safe. Because there are 3 years left on deal. Think about that.

Only 2 NFL head coaches in the last half century of football have playoff losing streaks with 1 team of 5 games or more:

Mike Tomlin
Marvin Lewis

That’s it. That’s the list.
