It’s official! Alexis Bellino and John Janssen are engaged.
After less than one year of dating, John, the former boyfriend of Shannon Beador, 60, proposed to the 47-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County “friend.”
PEOPLE confirmed the news on August 28, sharing that John popped the question to Alexis on Tuesday as the two of them celebrated their nine-month anniversary at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
“John & Alexis are happily engaged, and look forward to their long future together as husband and wife,” a rep told the outlet in a statement.
After John’s proposal, Alexis took to her Instagram page, where she shared a photo of their milestone moment.
“On Cloud 9 … celebrating [nine] months of love and laughter, and looking forward to my forever with you. Every moment together has been a gift. I am so in love with you and the beautiful life we’re building together with our kids. And the answer is 100000000% yes,” she declared. She also included 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Alexis also said that John was a “gift from [her] mom,” Penelope, who died last summer.
In addition to her photo announcement, Alexis shared a carousel of videos and photos from her and John’s stay in Santa Barbara.
“Our [nine] month anniversary was already perfection but became even more perfect when [John Janssen] proposed last night!!! My hair was frizzy, my nails are NOT DONE!!!! And my outfit was sub par. BUT the moment was pure perfection. In the most exclusive, secluded, intimate, loving, moment,” she captioned the post.
Also with the video, Alexis included a closeup pic of her engagement ring.
After sharing the news, a couple of RHOC cast members “liked” the announcement, including Tamra Judge, 56, and Jennifer Pedranti, 47.
As for fans, Alexis and John received backlash from several social media users, especially after they noticed that Alexis had turned off the comments on her announcement, likely in an effort to shield them from the criticism they’d receive.
“When you have to turn off your personal comments on the engagement photo,” one person wrote.
Others signaled to the $75,000 lawsuit John filed against Shannon earlier this year, claiming she owed him for a facelift he paid for.
“So he wanted Shannon to pay for the ring. Got it,” someone suspected.
“Wedding to be funded by Shannon Beador,” added another.
Someone else made it clear they did not want Alexis and John’s future wedding to air on Bravo.
“Bravo, don’t you dare think about putting one camera near that wedding,” they told the network.
