Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles have a long history of prioritizing the trenches when it comes to selecting in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Draft analyst Tyler Forness believes the Birds will only continue that trend in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
In A to Z Sports' new four-round mock draft, Forness sees the Eagles selecting Texas A&M edge Nic Scourton with their No. 32 overall pick.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Aggie product has been recognized for his versatility and athleticism on the defensive line and is a top prospect in this year's draft class.
Here's what Forness had to say about his pick projection:
32. Philadelphia Eagles: Nic Scourton, EDGE Texas A&M
The Eagles are a predictable team in the first round. They love to draft in the trenches on both sides of the football and defensive end is a major need. Scourton is one of the youngest players in the class with the combination of size and athleticism you want to see at the position. - Tyler Forness
Scourton initially kicked off his college career at Purdue, where he played two seasons, totaling 72 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. In his sophomore season with the Boilermakers, Scourton led the Big Ten Conference with 10 sacks and ranked fourth with 15 tackles for loss, which earned him Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
Ahead of his junior and final year at the college level before entering the draft, Scourton made the decision to transfer to Texas A&M for He started all 12 season games, leading the team with 14 tackles for loss and five sacks in 2024. His efforts earned him First Team All-SEC honors.
The Eagles have some voids to fill at edge after losing sack leader Josh Sweat to the Arizona Cardinals in NFL free agency and Brandon Graham to retirement.
If Scourton is still on the draft board when the Eagles pick No. 32, then Philly couldn't go wrong turning to him.
It also helps that the Eagles have done their extensive homework and invited him to the NovaCare Complex for a Top 30 visit.
