Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman unveils his “unhealthy obsession” that he can never have enough of

The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off of a season for the ages, ending with a dominant 40-22 Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The organization was able to put together such a tremendous run due to a roster that was unrivaled across the NFL landscape. In terms of star power and depth, general manager Howie Roseman earned his paycheck and then some.

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman unveils his “unhealthy obsession” that he can never have enough of

There are, of course, different ideologies about building a championship roster. Roseman subscribes heavily to one of the oldest ones, being an imposing force in the trenches. He made that very well known when speaking at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

"You can never have enough offensive and defensive linemen. We’re always on the lookout at those positions at every level whether it’s in free agency, whether it’s in the draft, whether it’s after the draft, whether it’s on the street. It’s really like an unhealthy obsession to be honest with you. So I never feel good enough because I can convince myself. I can go back to a game from this year and see that we’re down three offensive linemen and now I’m looking to find eight starters. Those are incredibly important positions and you can never have enough of them."

Players like quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, and wide receiver AJ Brown will get most of the headlines for obvious reasons. When you really dissect it, however, this is a very line-driven team. It starts with the offensive line, which is the best in the league.

Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, and Landon Dickerson have been the mainstays for years. They were joined by Cam Jurgens and Mekhi Becton, both of whom played tremendously in their first years as starters. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland has continued to churn out incredible units over the years.

The biggest difference for his team was the growth of the defensive line. Defensive end Josh Sweat had a bounceback season and was arguably the best player on the field during the Super Bowl win. We also saw Jalen Carter go from promising youngster to a dominant force in year two. Add in the steady play from guys like Milton Williams and Jordan Davis, and you have a younger unit whose best football may still be in front of them assuming they retain the talent in the room.

Roseman has helped to build a juggernaut. It also doesn’t appear that this Eagles team is going anywhere anytime soon. This is a very sustainable product with a winning window in front of them.
