Phaedra Gives an Update on Co-Parenting with Apollo: “Little Hiccup” (EXCLUSIVE)

As she returns to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Phaedra shared new info on her relationship with her ex-husband, Apollo Nida.

Phaedra Parks is opening up about being a single parent to her sons as well as navigating co-parenting her kids with her ex-husband, Apollo Nida.

The mom of two stopped by Bravo HQ this spring and caught us up with what’s been going on in her life since re-joining The Real Housewives of Atlanta, including how her relationship with her ex is going. Apollo and Phaedra officially divorced in 2017; they share sons, 14-year-old Ayden and 11-year-old Dylan.  “Apollo just called me about five minutes ago, and I told him I could not speak because I’m busy right now with you guys,” Phaedra told The Daily Dish during her sit-down interview.

They co-parent well, Phaedra further shared. “I mean, I’m obviously the custodial parent and the children are with me 95 percent of the time, but he does pick them up from camp sometimes and they spend time with him when he wants to spend time with them and I’m so very open to whatever he wants to do,” Phaedra said.

Phaedra did mention they had a “little hiccup” a few months back, but is hopeful they’ll move beyond it.  “My son called me last night, he’s like, ‘Mom, I just want you and my dad to try to become friends again,’” Phaedra said, adding she told her son: ‘It’s a process, it’s a journey cause crazy things happen…it makes it difficult sometimes.'"

Phaedra Parks talks about finding balance as a mom

Being on TV and balancing multiple jobs doesn’t always help the situation, Phaedra shared. “I mean I’m very mature and so I’m like as much as he wants to be involved, I will allow him to be involved,” Phaedra said. "It’s hard being a single parent and especially when you have lots of jobs…you have lots of responsibilities, and I have a lot of responsibilities, so I would love any assistance that he would like to provide.”

Phaedra further noted that being a parent isn't an easy journey. "Parenting is great, but it's very hard because it didn't come with a manual and children are so different," she shared with us. "None of them are the same, so him and his brother are polar opposites, so I will not be sad to have only one in the house [when Ayden goes to college]."
