One thing that was abundantly clear when the Las Vegas Raiders hired head coach Pete Carroll was that they were getting one of the fiercest competitors in recent NFL history.
Despite being the oldest head coach in the league at 73 years old, Carroll still finds ways to be the most energetic person in the room. He proved that multiple times during his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, and that fire has not been burnt out yet. With Carroll now looking to blend new-age analytics into his old-school “always compete” approach, the Raiders should be a much better coached outfit than they have been in recent years.
However, something that Carroll has already demonstrated with the Raiders is that he is committed to fostering a fun environment.
Carroll proved his ability to win over a room with a clip making the rounds on social media.
In a video clip on X by KTNV’s Nick Walters, Carroll was seen on the field during the team’s workouts, engaging in conversation with players and even having an impromptu wrestling match with offensive lineman Thayer Munford Jr.

Players have noticed the different environment that Carroll has brought to the Raiders, and they have taken to their media availabilities to give rave reviews of their new head coach.
“Pete is doing a really good job instilling that in us. Not just the vets, but the young guys… Pete’s 70 something years old, and he’s the first one here. Why can’t I do that?… He brings the juice every day,” said linebacker Elandon Roberts on Wednesday.
Carroll’s infectious energy rubbing off on his players can only be a positive sign heading into the new season.
