The Philadelphia Eagles are going into the 2024 season ready to bounce back after a disappointing ending to last season. They were able to add more playmakers on both sides of the ball as they look to become Super Bowl contenders again.
The additions of Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson back in March were massive but general manager Howie Roseman didn't stop there.
Just last week, the Eagles acquired wide receiver Jahan Dotson, showcasing they are going all-in.
Now, the latest report revealed the perfect linebacker may be up for grabs ahead of the regular season.
NFL News: Los Angeles Rams Give Ernest Jones IV Permission To Seek Trade
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Rams have allowed linebacker Ernest Jones IV to find a trade partner.
Jones IV is heading into the year of his rookie deal and wants to cash in. Since entering the league in 2021, Jones IV has been an impactful defender.
The South Carolina product is always around the ball and uses his superb IQ to sniff out plays consistently. Last season with the Rams, the 24-year-old finished with a career-high 145 total tackles, six pass breakups, and 4.5 sacks.
Adding a difference-maker like this to the linebacker core for Philly could go a long way. They did try to improve this unit this offseason by signing both Devin White and Zach Baun. Philadelphia also has Nakobe Dean in the rotation but there are questions around each player.
Snagging a player like Jones IV right before the season would raise the floor of the Eagles' defense and is something they should inquire about.
