The New England Patriots added a lot of talent during the first week of free agency. However, there are still a lot of needs the team has to address before they take the field for their season opener in September.
Below is how the roster currently stands following the first week of free agency.
Note: FA additions will be bolded on the list
Patriots 2025 Roster Post Free Agency
Quarterback (3):
- Drake Maye
- Joe Milton III
- Joshua Dobbs
Despite all the struggles last season, it was clear that having a veteran in the room was very important for Drake Maye and Joe Milton III's development. So, they brought in Joshua Dobbs on a two year deal. Milton's future with the Patriots is still up in the air as it's been reported that the team has explored the idea of trading him.
Running Back (3):
- Rhamondre Stevenson
- Antonio Gibson
- JaMycal Hasty
- Terrell Jennings
No changes to the running back room, with Stevenson expected to be the starter followed by Gibson on the depth chart. However, the Patriots could look to add another player in the backfield during the draft.
Wide Receiver (7):
- Kendrick Bourne
- DeMario Douglas
- Kayshon Boutte
- Javon Baker
- Mack Hollins
- JaQuae Jackson
- John Jiles
- Ja'Lynn Polk
While the Patriots added Mack Hollins, they are still in need of a true top receiver. Chris Godwin is off the board and Cooper Kupp opted to stay on the west coast. That leaves players such as Amari Cooper and Stefon Diggs available along with a possible trade for Brandon Aiyuk.
Tight End (4):
- Hunter Henry
- Austin Hooper
- Jaheim Bell
- Jack Westover
- Giovanni Ricci
Austin Hooper is returning to Foxborough for another season, which was an important move considering that he was one of Maye's top targets last season.
Offensive line
- Vederian Lowe, T
- Cole Strange, G
- Ben Brown, C
- Lecitus Smith, C
- Mike Onwenu, G
- Morgan Moses, T
- Sidy Sow, T
- Caedan Wallace, T
- Demontrey Jacobs, T
- Layden Robinson, G
- Wes Schweitzer, G
- Jake Andrews, G
- Tyrese Robinson, G
- Caleb Jones, T
This seems like a big list, but there are still so many uncertainties. Morgan Moses is a favorite to be the team's right tackle, and then Mike Onwenu can return to guard. But, the left side is the bigger question. There are a lot of names on this list, but the Patriots are expected to make some more moves.
Defensive End (2):
- Keion White
- Truman Jones
Defensive Tackle (7):
- Milton Williams
- Christian Barmore
- Jeremiah Pharms Jr.
- Khyiris Tonga
- Eric Johnson II
- Jaquelin Roy
- Marcus Harris
Bringing in Milton Williams was a huge free agency addition for New England. Plus, it helps as Christian Barmore's status for the next season is still unknown.
Inside Linebacker (6):
- Ja’Whaun Bentley
- Jahlani Tavai
- Curtis Jacobs
- Christian Elliss
- Monty Rice
- Andrew Parker Jr.
Outside Linebacker (6):
- Harold Landry III
- Robert Spillane
- Anfernee Jennings
- Titus Leo
Harold Landry III is someone who worked with Mike Vrabel in Tennessee, and Robert Spillane has experience with new defensive coordinator Terrell Williams.
Cornerback (7):
- Christian Gonzalez
- Carlton Davis
- Marcus Jones
- Isaiah Bolden
- Marcellas Dial
- Miles Battle
- DJ James
While the Patriots have Christian Gonzalez, they added Carlton Davis to play opposite of him.
Safety (8):
- Kyle Dugger
- Jabrill Peppers
- Marcus Epps
- Marte Mapu
- Jaylinn Hawkins
- Dell Pettus
- Brenden Schooler
- Mark Perry
Epps was with the Las Vegas Raiders when Josh McDaniels was the head coach and is coming off a torn ACL. But, NFL Network says that Epps is “expected to be cleared well before training camp.”
Specialists (3):
- Bryce Baringer, P
- John Parker Romo, K
- Joe Cardona, LS
Without Joey Slye on the roster, the Patriots now have John Parker Romo. But, the expectation is that they will add some competition by training camp.
