The New England Patriots will be without Davon Godchaux next season.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Godchaux has been traded to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick.
Godchaux was given permission to seek a trade at the end of February, not even a year after the two sides agreed to a two-year, $16.5 million contract extension.
Since coming to the Patriots in 2021, Godchaux has played in every single game. And during the 2024 season, Godchaux finished with 67 total tackles across 17 games. Throughout his entire career, he has a total of 429 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defended.
Now that they have parted ways with Godchaux, the expectation is they will pursue Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams. Plus, New England's executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf is confident in this years draft class at this particular position.
“I think it’s really deep on the defensive line,” Wolf said at the 2025 NFL Combine.
