Patriots should make bold move in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but all signs point to them taking the safe route

All signs point to the New England Patriots taking LSU left tackle Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, is that really the best option?

There's been so much talk about arm length and whether Campbell is truly a tackle or a guard. And with this pick, New England can't afford to get it wrong. Especially considering it's Mike Vrabel's first as head coach of the Patriots.

So with that, there is one name that should be in consideration for New England's first round pick.

That's none other than Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Jeanty finished the 2024 season with 374 carries for 2,601 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns along with 23 receptions for 138 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. His impressive efforts earned him a lot of recognition, and he was one of the four Heisman finalists.

The award ultimately went to Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter, who is most likely to go to the Cleveland Browns, but Jeanty finished second in voting.

Many expect Jeanty to go to the Las Vegas Raiders with the sixth overall pick, but the Patriots can swoop in and snag him. Plus, they can address their need at left tackle with their other picks considering that there are many offensive line prospects in the draft.

So, yes Campbell is the safe pick, but at the same time, there is a big risk when it comes to his true position. Whereas, for Jeanty, it's more of an immediate risk, but one that has a true opportunity to pay off in a big way.
