The New England Patriots revamped nearly their entire offensive line in the 2025 offseason. After a poor year from the 2024 Patriots' offensive line, Mike Vrabel and the front office made sweeping changes at every position other than right guard.
One of the first additions was veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses in free agency. The Patriots signed Moses to a three-year, $24 million contract with $11 million guaranteed at signing. As the new right tackle, his role will be an imperative one.
However, Moses broke his silence on his health ahead of the Patriots' training camps getting underway. In an article from Mike Reiss on ESPN, Reiss reported that Moses came forward about offseason surgery.
"Veteran right tackle Morgan Moses," Reiss wrote, "...shared that he is returning from offseason knee surgery." Moses commented on his recovery from the surgery, saying he's "Just pacing things out."
Moses had dealt with a knee injury in 2024 with the New York Jets, and in his age-33 season, there was a scenario where, instead of surgery, he'd retire. However, he decided to return to football, and the Patriots gave him a solid payday to bring him to New England.
The 34-year-old now heads into his 12th season in the NFL, and with his fourth different team. He's started 158 games in his career, and has played 84 percent of his teams offensive snaps since 2015.
Across his solid 11-year career, he's always been an above-average blocker in the run and pass game. Since 2021, Moses also has been flagged for holding two times.
He's a disciplined offensive tackle, and will provide great protection opposite first-round pick Will Campbell. Moses has a big role for the Patriots in 2025, and his offseason surgery is something important to monitor heading into the season.
While there is some concern over his health, Moses is still expected to be back for the 2025 season.
