MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers’ third round pick of 2024 MarShawn Lloyd did not have an ideal start to his pro career, no thanks to a number of injuries that kept the running back out of the game.

The 88th overall pick from USC Trojans played just one game for the Packers in his rookie year. It was against the Indianapolis Colts where he recorded six carries for 15 yards.

Lloyd came to the team with favorable reviews with some critics describing a selection as a win for head coach Matt LaFleur for he was able to fill his RB corps with a reliable back-up who is has a “compact build in addition to being a good athlete.”Ezoic

Some even thought that he could challenge AJ Dillon for the main position. However, the worst of the worst happened to his pro career start.

The 24-year-old’s medical team described his injury as “freakish” but it is not something he can’t recover from.

“Everything happens for a reason,” he said.

“That’s the thing that went through my head. I’ve always tried to (say), ‘OK, why did this happen?’ But at the end of the day you just gotta go with it.”

Lloyd says his ready to help Green Bay Packers

Although there was a setback, Lloyd remained laser-focused in his goal and he thought the science behind football helped him.

That was in January when he started his full recovery program and now, he’s ready. Lloyd has been participating in practices and told reporters that he has been 100 percent for some time now.

I’m doing good, really good,” he told after practice on Wednesday.

“Can run as fast as I can, can jump as high as I want, can catch the ball.”

Lloyd will still be competing with the main guys. Josh Jacobs still got a hold of the main position. AJ Dillon is no longer with the Packers after joining the Super Bowl LIX winners Philadelphia Eagles.

Latest Packers depth chart says Lloyd is second, followed by Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks.
