The Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks are both looking to get back to the playoffs in 2024.  Both teams finished 9-8 last season, however, the Packers got the nod over Seattle for the last spot in the playoffs.

The Packers took full advantage by knocking off the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs.  However, could Seattle and Green Bay be in business prior to the start of the 2024 season?

Could The Seattle Seahawks Send Star To The Green Bay Packers?

According to Patrick McAvoy of The Sporting News:

The first major question the Packers have to answer is the future of star quarterback Jordan Love. There have been rumblings that the two sides have been discussing a new contract and at this point, it would be surprising if they didn’t come to terms on a deal.

After that, the Packers should consider bringing in another weapon for their young star. Green Bay has done a good job bolstering the offense but landing another receiver wouldn’t hurt.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine put together a list of teams with possibly available players that could be sellers and mentioned the Seattle Seahawks and star receiver Tyler Lockett.

“The Seattle Seahawks didn’t necessarily behave like a rebuilding team this offseason, but they are still a team in transition after going to Mike Macdonald as their head coach to replace Pete Carroll,” Ballentine said.

“If they decide to go that route they would have a few trade assets who could net a good return. Tyler Lockett is the most notable. He signed a new contract this offseason, but he still only has two years left on his deal. A trade this season would clear $14.9 million in cap space…Potential Trade Candidates: WR Tyler Lockett, Edge Darrell Taylor, and (Defensive Tackle) Jarran Reed.”

If the Packers want to add to the offense, a trade for Lockett would make a lot of sense. The nine-year veteran has been named an All-Pro three games, Pro Bowler once, and has had over 1,000 yards in four of the last five seasons. He could be just what the Packers need to help give Love another weapon.

It would be surprising to see the Packers make any additions to their wide receiving corps.  At this point, a slew of injuries (knocks on wood) seems like the only way the Packers would feel the need to bring in a veteran wide receiver.

That being said, Lockett has been a rumored target for the Packers for years.  It will be interesting to see what veteran wide receivers the Packers target if they are presented with the need to do so.
