The Green Bay Packers signed linebacker Jamin Davis to their practice squad. He was released by the Commanders last week, and drafted by the team in 2021 also played the defensive end position.

He will get to work behind athletic linebackers like Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper while learning a new defense under position head coach Anthony Campanile and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

He played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats. Davis played at defensive end in 2024 before being released during the season.

Davis is a really exciting athlete. He is a great mover and possess fantastic length. He will be an immediate asset in coverage.

He also gets into throwing lanes in zone and makes plays. He’s also able to turn and run in man. He reads and reacts well in the run game.

He is a fourth vet that has 282 tackles and seven sacks in 50 games. Linebacker Davis started 36 games in his first three seasons but was released after five games this season.

He played almost 2,300 snaps on defense but has limited experience on special teams with 49 snaps. Davis had 82 stops between 2022-2023. He had 21 pressures as a blitzer and only missed 13 tackles between as well.

While slightly undersized at 234 pounds, Davis posted elite marks at the vertical leap (42), broad jump (11-0), 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash and 1.53 seconds in the 10-yard split. His Relative Athletic score was 9.93 out of 10 making him one of the most athletic linebackers ever and helped fuel his rise up draft boards.

What the Green Bay Packers did grab was a fast linebacker that can cover and tackle. This guy’s going to be effective with the Packers. The Packers really boosted their linebacker group, and this could potentially be a top five defense in the NFL.

Davis is worth the roll of the dice for Green Bay. There’s never such a thing as having too many quick and athletic linebackers. Let’s see what the coaching staff can do to unlock the potential of the Packers.
