Packers Rumors: Keisean Nixon May Have Accidentally Revealed Star Teammate Won’t Return in 2025

The 2024 NFL season did not go the way the Green Bay Packers had hoped that it would. After finishing 2023 9-8 and with the seventh seed in the NFC, they improved their record to 11-6 in 2024, but still managed just the seventh seed. Unlike last season when they upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round, the Packers dropped a dreadful first round game to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Indeed, the last few weeks of the season were rife with disappointments. Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, who had been sidelined virtually since the end of Week Eight, needed season-ending surgery on his torn PCL. Wide receiver Christian Watson tore his ACL in Week 18, ending his season and leaving his availability for 2025 in serious doubt.

And, of course, the team as whole failed to show up in their biggest games. They went 0-6 against the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions, and just 1-5 in the NFC North.

To be sure, there will be multiple players from this year’s team that will not be back next season as the front office looks to take the next step forward. And one of those who may not be back is one of their best players.

Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander Stated He Does Not Know If He Will Be Back

Earlier today, it was reported that Alexander refused to speak to the media as the players were emptying their lockers and heading out of Lambeau Field for their offseason. He did, however, make a couple terse remarks that left his future with the organization in question:

When Jaire Alexander was asked to speak with the media at locker room cleanout, he declined, saying he doesn’t even know if he is going to be here next year.

Said he didn’t have anything good to say so definitely wasn’t going to talk.

These comments certainly make it seem like he and the Packers are headed for a divorce. There were questions throughout the season on whether or not the star cornerback and the team disagreed in how his injury should be treated, whether with rehab or surgery.

While no one knows which party wanted what, it sure seems as if that, and perhaps other things, soured Alexander on the Packers.

The fact of the matter, too, is that he has only been able to play a full season once in the past four years. What is more, the Packers can save $6.8 million in salary cap space in 2025 by releasing him.

Did Green Bay Packers Cornerback Keisean Nixon Reveal Jaire Alexander Will Not Be Back?

Packers kick returner and cornerback Keisean Nixon caused a flurry of reactions on social media today when it was reported that he stated that he no longer wanted to return kicks:

Keisean Nixon after a season with the new kickoff:

“I don’t really want to do it no more. There’s going to be talks with the coaching staff and stuff like that, but I think it’s over with for me.”

“I want to be CB1. CB1 is not doing kick returns. That’s just what it is.”

That first part, the part about not returning kicks anymore, is what had fans so upset. However, it is the second part that is really intriguing.

Remember, Alexander has been considered the top cornerback on the team for years. If Nixon has his eye set on being the top coverage corner for Green Bay in 2025, that must mean he knows that his two-time Pro Bowl teammate will not be there.
