Packers Rumors: Josh Jacobs Doubles Down on Jordan Love Statement from Earlier This Offseason

Josh Jacobs Gets Real About Jordan Love's Potential - Zone Coverage

Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs had a great first season in Titletown after signing there as a free agent ahead of the 2024 NFL season. He finished the year with 301 carries (sixth in the NFL), 1,329 rushing yards (also sixth), and 15 rushing touchdowns (fourth in the league, and just one off of being tied for first).

Indeed, the addition of Jacobs, as well as other factors, seemed to have changed the Packers offense from a pass-first threat to one that preferred to run the ball. To put this in perspective, former Green Bay running back Aaron Jones had a career high 255 carries in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings. The most he ever had as a Packer was 236.

One of the other factors, though, was the health of starting quarterback Jordan Love. While he only missed two full games with a torn MCL, it was clear that he was hurt all year, and that his own production was affected by his ailments.

In 15 games this past season, Love had a 63.1% completion percentage, 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.7 passer rating. As mentioned, he played through injuries for most of the year. He sprained his MCL in Week One and injured his groin midway through the year. Both of these injuries affected his mobility and throwing stance.

Earlier this offseason, during a podcast appearance with his former head coach, Jon Gruden, Jacobs raved about how talented his quarterback in Green Bay is.

“Special, man. I don’t think people really know how good he is. I think he was like fifth in QBR this year, and that was a “down year” for him, supposedly,” Jacobs said. “He’s very poised. He’s one of them guys, man, where like he’s never rattled, he’s gonna stay and he’s gonna be the last guy in the building, he’s gonna be the first guy in the building. He does everything the right way. He talks to the guys, has relationships with the guys.”

During an appearance on Zias! on YouTube this week, Jacobs was once again asked about Love and how he liked playing with him.

He responded, “He a dog, he a dog. I mean like for him, he got all the traits and abilities, bro. He was hurt a lot last year, but like, once he really got comfortable in what he want to do, I’m telling you, he’s one of the ones. I be seeing him make some throws, and I’m like, ‘D—!'”

Despite leading Green Bay to the NFL Playoffs in each of his first two seasons as their starting quarterback, something that Rodgers failed to do in his final season with the Packers, there are still some fans that do not think Love is the right starter for the team.

Obviously, Jacobs disagrees.
