Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is an accomplished NFL defender. He has already been named Second Team All-Pro twice and has gone to two Pro Bowls. He is also still the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, averaging $21 million per season.
Due to his prowess in the passing game, Alexander is often tasked with defending opponents’ top wide receivers. Because of this, he has defended some of the top wide receivers in the game right now.
Having guarded multiple top pass catchers, Alexander is in a fair position to determine which of them are the best of the best. After training camp practice on Tuesday, he revealed his top two.

During Tuesday’s practice, Alexander was tasked with defending Romeo Doubs during drills. Doubs won all three reps, leaving the two-time Pro Bowler begging coaches to let him have another chance at him.
He did not get it.
Speaking to reporters after practice, Alexander gave Doubs the highest praise possible:
Alexander, of course, defended Adams daily during training camp and practices when the All-Pro wide receiver was still in Green Bay. Indeed, their squaring off against each other so often may have played in part in making each player as good as they are.
Of Doubs, Alexander said, “He goes about it the right way. He comes in—I mean, he catches 100 balls and he catches more after practice. You can see he’s a real pro. You can see his attention to detail is very on point.”
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs Could Be in for a Big Year in 2024

When Jordan Love was first named the Packers’ starting quarterback following the Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets, Doubs flew out to California to start working with him. Their early work paid off as Doubs improved dramatically in 2023 from his rookie campaign in 2022.
As a rookie, Doubs had 42 receptions for 425 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games played (he missed four games with a sprained ankle). He also had a high drop percentage (13.8%) and many wondered if it would be an issue that would stick with him.
Last season, though, Doubs played in all 17 games, catching 59 passes for 674 yards and eight touchdowns (which tied Jayden Reed for the most on the team). He also lowered his drop percentage to 6.3%.
Interestingly, the one receiver Alexander says is better than Doubs, Davante Adams, also struggled with drops at the beginning of his career. In fact, many Packers fans were calling for the Packers to cut Adams during training camp of his third season with the team.
Adams went on to have 75 receptions for 997 yards and 12 touchdowns that season, his drop problem all but gone. In his first two seasons, he averaged 44 receptions for 464 yards and two touchdowns.
As one can see, these averages are very similar to Doubs’ numbers as a rookie in 2022. If Doubs’ connection with Love continues to grow, he may be the one who emerges as Green Bay’s next number one wide receiver.
