Packers Rumors: 2 WR’s Doubtful, Exciting Defensive Star Out vs Rams

The Green Bay Packers will travel out west to take on the Los Angeles Rams in their Week Five matchup. At 2-2, the Packers are searching for their first victory over the Rams in Los Angeles since the days of Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr. While Green Bay won four games while visiting the Rams in St. Louis between 1995 and 2015, they are 0-14 against them in Los Angeles since 1966.

The good news for the Packers is that their starting quarterback, Jordan Love, was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday. These were the first two days that Love was able to be a full participant in practice since he sprained his MCL in Green Bay’s Week One loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The fact that he was able to fully participate in each of the last two days is an indication that he will hopefully be much better than he was in the Packers’ Week Four loss to the Minnesota Vikings, a game that saw Love throw for a career-high 389 yards and four touchdowns (but also a career-high three interceptions).

The Green Bay Packers Also Get Good News on Injured Cornerback Jaire Alexander

One big-name player that was not able to play in the Packers’ Week Four loss to Minnesota was two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander. He was held out with a groin injury suffered during practice last week. Without him and second-year defensive back Carrington Valentine, the Packers’ secondary struggled to contain Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, especially in the first half.

Fortunately for Green Bay, both Alexander and Valentine appear to have improved this week. The Packers’ last injury report before their Week Five matchup against the Rams has both players listed as questionable.

Alexander did not practice on Wednesday but was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. Valentine was a limited participant all week.

Other players listed as questionable on the Packers injury report are:

  • Kenny Clark (toe)
  • Edgerrin Cooper (hip)
  • Jonatan Ford (calf)
  • Elgton Jenkins (knee)
  • Jordan Morgan (shoulder)
  • Luke Musgrave (ankle)

The Green Bay Packers Have Ruled Out Defensive Lineman Devonte Wyatt

Unfortunately, the Packers injury report does state that they will be without defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt, who suffered an ankle injury against the Vikings in Week Four.

The third-year defensive tackle was off to the best start of his young career when he went down. In four games, he has 3.0 sacks and ten tackles. Last year, when playing in all 17 games, Wyatt had a career-high 5.5 sacks. He is still on pace to have much more than that if he is able to return in a timely manner.

In addition to Wyatt, the Packers will also likely be without their two starting wide receivers, Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson. Watson also suffered an ankle injury against the Vikings, but Doubs is listed as doubtful for personal reasons.

Doubs has missed the Packers’ last two days of practice after being present on Wednesday.
