The Green Bay Packers must improve their pass rush in the 2025 NFL Draft. Rashan Gary led the team with 47 pressures last season but ranked just 31st among edge rushers. Lukas Van Ness totaled 3.0 sacks - equal to Keisean Nixon, whose responsibilities are in coverage. Brenton Cox Jr. showed flashes but played only 112 pass-rush snaps, while Kingsley Enagbare and Aaron Mosby remained rotational options.
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst acknowledged the team's inconsistent pass rush last season and pointed to the transition to a new defensive scheme as a factor.
"There's times we kind of broke out, and then there's times we'd have these lulls where we just we just we weren't probably playing as well as we would like," Gutekunst said at his season-ending press conference. "There was some transition to a new scheme, but I think we didn't grow into that consistent front like we had hoped. But there were times that we showed it, so I know it's capable. I think we've got the right guys."
The Packers are confident their pass rushers will improve, but that doesn't mean they aren't exploring options. Reports suggest Green Bay is looking into edge rusher prospects ahead of the Draft.
According to The Draft Network's Justin Melo, the Green Bay Packers met with Illinois EDGE Seth Coleman at his Pro Day. The 24-year-old pass rusher recorded 85 pressures and 13.5 sacks over the past three seasons with the Fighting Illini. He also appeared in the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl and the 2024 Citrus Bowl.
Coleman logged over 2,000 career snaps at Illinois. While his 250-pound frame is slightly below the size threshold the Packers typically prefer, he makes up for it with solid athletic traits. He earned a 7.14 Relative Athletic Score at the NFL Combine, highlighted by elite marks in his composite explosion grade.
Seth Coleman is a DE prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 7.14 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 576 out of 2012 DE from 1987 to 2025.https://t.co/UcCnz9rOs3pic.twitter.com/LqU8SBJB4k

The NFL Mock Draft Database currently projects Seth Coleman as an undrafted free agent, but the Packers could target him late on Day 3 as a developmental edge rusher. Green Bay must take calculated chances to upgrade a defensive line that finished the 2024 season ranked 26th in pass rush win rate. Coleman's production and athleticism could make him a more appealing prospect to the Packers than the consensus rankings suggest.
