Packers Predicted To Send Ex-Leading Receiver To The AFC South

The Green Bay Packers have – for once – an abundance of receiving talent on the roster.

Whilst there are legitimate concerns about whether the franchise has any one, singular elite-level wideout, the Packers can certainly lay claim to having one of the deeper receiving rooms in the NFL.

Rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams will add strong competition to the likes of Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, who were the presumed starting trio for Green Bay prior to April’s draft, as Christian Watson continues to recover from an ACL tear suffered late last season.

But with up to six names competing for three starting spots – and that does not even include free agent signing, Mecole Hardman, who will likely spend the majority of his playing time on special teams – it could make sense for the Packers trade away one of their many receivers.

And Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes that the most likely on the trade block is Romeo Doubs, who he predicts could be traded to the Tennessee Titans during training camp.

Packers Wideout Predicted To Be Shipped Off To The Titans

Moton lists Doubs’ expiring contract at the end of the season, and a practice incident that resulted in a one week suspension from the team as key reasons he could be the one chosen to be shipped off to pastures new over the course of the next month or two.

“Quarterback Jordan Love has plenty of hands to feed in the aerial attack,” Moton wrote on Friday, “making it difficult to satisfy all his pass-catchers’ target share demands.

Among the five wideouts, Doubs and Watson are on track to become free agents in 2026. Green Bay should look to deal one of them for draft capital, which would reduce the logjam at receiver.

Because of Watson’s injury, he probably wouldn’t fetch as much as Doubs, who had a decent 2024 campaign with 46 receptions for 601 yards and four touchdowns.”

According to Sports Illustrated‘s Bill Huber, last season, Doubs skipped practices due to frustrations with his role in the Packers offense.”

Is It Worth The Packers Moving Doubs?

There is no question that Romeo Doubs would be a valuable asset to numerous teams in the NFL, including the Titans. Indeed, Moton believes he would slot in as the WR2 after Calvin Ridley as the franchise tries to surround rookie QB, Cam Ward with viable pass-catching weapons.

But he also remains valuable for Green Bay, and is one of the leaders in the otherwise very young receiver room.

Although he has not quite kicked on and become a bona fide WR1, or even high end 2, after leading the team in receiving yards back in 2023, he is a reliable third option wideout that has veteran experience under his belt.

Ultimately, a trade to Tennessee or anywhere else will rely on the compensation offered. The Packers will be reluctant to move him, unless it is clear he is falling behind three or four other receivers on the depth chart.

But if the Titans make a competitive offer for his services; something in the ball park of a fourth round pick, they will certainly get general manager, Brian Guttekunst’s attention.
