NFC North quarterback power rankings Week 8: Jordan Love is one of the NFL's best

Great quarterback play is fueling victories in the NFC North.

The NFC North continues to remain the best division in the NFL, in large part due to the quarterback play throughout the division.

After the Minnesota Vikings' loss on Thursday Night Football, the division has a combined win-loss record of 19-7 and is sending all four teams to the playoffs.

Week 7 saw an NFC North battle between the top two teams, an instant classic at Lambeau Field, and the Chicago Bears on their bye week. The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions can pull ahead of the Vikings with matchups against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans this week, respectively.

So, with that said, let's take a look at where each team's quarterback stands entering Week 8.

4. Caleb Williams, Bears

The Bears were on bye last week, putting Caleb Williams at the No. 4 spot entering Week 8. Williams has been increasingly impressive as the season has gone on, but they face the tough matchup of the Washington Commanders and fellow rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels (if he's healthy).

3. Sam Darnold, Vikings

Since last week's rankings, the Vikings have lost two games. Minnesota came up short in Week 7 in an entertaining battle with the Lions. Sam Darnold was rather pedestrian in the losing effort, completing 22 of 27 passes for 259 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Minnesota offense only mustered two touchdowns, and without the benefit of a fumble recovery for a touchdown by the Vikings' defense, this game wasn't as close as the final score would indicate.

Minnesota then lost again on Thursday Night Football. Darnold put in a better performance, with 240 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to win.

2. Jordan Love, Packers

Gunslinger football is back in Green Bay, evidenced once again by another roller coaster game by Jordan Love. Love finished 24-of-33 for 220 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The Packers got a thrilling win over the Houston Texans, thanks in part to a Brandon McManus field goal as time expired. Love led the final drive perfectly, starting from the 30-yard line, where the Packers' offense was able to methodically pick its way down the field.

Packers fans have been spoiled by the ball security that Aaron Rodgers provided, but Love, despite the turnovers, proved why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

1. Jared Goff, Lions

Jared Goff and the Lions went into Minnesota and grabbed control of the NFC North after a 31-29 win. Goff, for his part, was darn near perfect once again, completing 22 of 25 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns.

There is a new leader of the NFC North after the Lions' win in Week 7. Goff, aided by a monster game from Jahmyr Gibbs and a late go-ahead kick by Jake Bates, leads Detroit back to the Motor City for a Week 8 matchup against the Titans.
