The Green Bay Packers did not play their best game in their 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Starting quarterback Jordan Love emulated Brett Favre both before and during the game, throwing four touchdown passes to go with three interceptions. Kicker Brayden Narveson missed two field goal attempts, either one of which could have ended up giving Green Bay the victory.

In addition to losing the game, the Packers and their fans were worried that the team also might have lost wide receiver Christian Watson, who suffered what appeared to be a serious leg injury when he got crushed by three Vikings defenders while attempting to catch a pass.

The injury did not look good when it happened, which is why head coach Matt LaFleur’s announcement regarding the injury today was so shocking.

Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Christian Watson Could Miss Just One Game

Fortunately for the Packers, Watson suffered a high ankle sprain, and not a fracture of some kind. These types of injuries can take up to four weeks to heal, so many thought a trip to injured reserve might be in the cards for the Green Bay wide receiver.

However, head coach Matt LaFleur revealed today that Watson may only miss a week:

This is certainly good news for Watson, who missed half of the 2023 NFL season with a series of hamstring injuries. During the offseason, he visited a hamstring specialist at the University of Wisconsin in order to figure out why injuries were happening so frequently.

This is certainly good news for Watson, who missed half of the 2023 NFL season with a series of hamstring injuries. During the offseason, he visited a hamstring specialist at the University of Wisconsin in order to figure out why injuries were happening so frequently.

The visit to Madison revealed that one of his legs was significantly stronger than the other, which caused his hamstring troubles.

While it may be tempting for fans to get frustrated that he is hurt again, it should be noted that this injury is not like any of the others that he had in the past. This is not a soft tissue injury. Watson addressed and fixed that issue.

He was hurt on an unfortunate football play. There was nothing he could have done to avoid it.
