The Green Bay Packers have spent the last few off-seasons investing in the future of the organization.  That has included getting younger and moving on from multiple players who have spent their entire careers in Green Bay.  Aaron Rodgers, David Bakhtiari, Aaron Jones, and Mason Crosby were all prime examples of this.

However, another long-term veteran claims the Packers didn’t even try to re-sign him.

The Green Bay Packers Didn’t Try To Bring Back One Fan Favorite.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb (18) scores a touchdown on a 17-yard reception with Detroit Lions free safety Glover Quin (27) in his wake during the fourth quarter of their game on Dec. 31, 2017, at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. The Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers 35-11.

According to Eli Berkovits, who writes for CBS Sports:

Randall Cobb talking about his first departure from the Packers…

“I told my agent, can you ask Green Bay like, just make an offer.  I probably would’ve took anything.  They didn’t even make an offer.”

I know it’s a business, but damn that hurts.

Last season with the New York Jets Cobb he played in 11 games but saw very little action. Cobb caught five passes for 39 yards receiving and one touchdown all season long. He averaged 7.8 yards per reception and was targeted 17 times.

Throughout his NFL career, Cobb played in 166 total games and caught 630 passes for 7,624 yards receiving and 54 touchdowns. He averaged 12.1 yards per reception and has also been targeted 909 times.

Sayre Bedinger of lombardiavenue.com said:

“Randall Cobb has been in the NFL since 2011, but the 2023 season might have been his last. Cobb landed a gig with a lot of his former Packers buddies in New York with the Jets, catching just five passes over the course of the season.

If it is the end of the line for Cobb, he will have enjoyed one of the most productive careers anyone could have possibly imagined when he came out of Kentucky. He’s been in the NFL for 13 seasons, 10 of which came in Green Bay, and he’s 11th all-time in Packers history in receiving yards.”
