The Green Bay Packers are 5-2 after seven games, a vast improvement from the 2-5 record they sported at this point in the season last year. Of course, there are many reasons for this start, not the least of which has been the stellar quarterback play of Jordan Love. Recently, Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons declared that the Packers star can’t not be in the conversation of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL.

In five games played this season (he missed two games with a sprained MCL), Love has completed 61.6% of his passes for 1,351 yards, 15 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a passer rating of 94.1.

Obviously, he has not been perfect. Love’s eight interceptions this season are tied with Patrick Mahomes for the most in the league. The offense is still getting better, though, and have brought in a new set of eyes that could make them improve even more.

The Green Bay Packers Have Hired Former New York Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh

On Wednesday afternoon, Packers fans were shocked as pictures and videos from reporters that cover the team for various outlets showing former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh at practice in Green Bay swirled around social media.

Saleh was fired two weeks ago after the Jets started 2-3. Of course, he had been coaching former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in New York, making his appearance in Green Bay all the more intriguing for fans.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Saleh are best friends, with the former standing up as the best man in the latter’s wedding. Interestingly, though, LaFleur did not bring Saleh, a defensive-minded coach, to help Jeff Hafley’s defense.

Instead, Saleh is working with the offense. “It’s a good opportunity for him to learn and also for him to help us, give us perspective on how teams might see us, on how they might defend us,” LaFleur said. “Certainly, can find holes or some vulnerabilities in the defense that we’re playing. That’s how we’re gonna use him.”

LaFleur’s quarterback is excited to learn a bit more about how defenses are going to play him.

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Speaks Out on Robert Saleh Working with the Offense

Speaking to reporters after practice, Love said, “Having a defensive mind talking offense and helping us with things he might be able to see, some of our scheme stuff, things the defense might be looking for, it helps.”

When asked if he has ever asked Rodgers about Saleh, Love responded with a simple, “No.”

LaFleur said that Saleh’s position with the Packers is fluid and that he will be flying home after practice on Thursday.

While it is probable that Saleh will return to Green Bay for some more practices, it is highly doubtful that he will have a permanent role on LaFleur’s staff. Hafley has done a tremendous job with the Packers defense, which is why Saleh is advising the offense.

The former Jets head coach will also be one of the highest sought-after defensive coordinator candidates this offseason.
