The Green Bay Packers have had an off-season that gave their fanbase hope for an electric offense moving forward. The additions of Mecole Hardman, Matthew Golden, and Savion Williams added completely new wrinkle to the offense.
However, Green Bay has also had to move on from a number of players over the last few years. Apparently, one didn’t take it too well.
Breaking: Packers’ HC Matt LaFleur Announces Player Tried To Fight Him After Being Cut (Report)

In an interview, LaFleur disclosed that one player got in his face after informing him he would be released:
“I’ve had a player a couple of years back. It was just him and I. I mean, we’re in this cinderblock room, and I think he’s going to whip my a** and there’s nobody around. I was just like, ‘oh, well, here it goes guys, this is the end’. And you just try to de-escalate the situation, but sometimes there’s no getting through,” he said.

According to Vincent Pensabene:
LaFleur did not disclose the player or give any indication of who the person in the story could be. However, in a league where there are very few guaranteed contracts and fighting for a roster spot, there are going to be physical and emotionally driven conversations like this that wind up happening.
The Packers have been able to make the playoffs the last couple of seasons, and this conversation is going to continue to happen around the league, not just with coach LaFleur. After the 2025 NFL Draft, the team added some talent like wide receiver Matthew Golden, and the unfortunate reality is that it means a different player is likely going to be cut from the roster in order to make room for the incoming rookie.
Green Bay, like all 31 other teams in the sport, are trying to get the best potential roster, and what comes with that is the realization that some players can get cut. That is not the end of the line for players, though, as it is an opportunity to find a different organization that views them differently and gives them a chance to showcase their talents.
