Green Bay Packers has a fourth quarterback and he definitely earned that spot. Taylor Elgersma becomes the team’s fourth signal caller behind Jordan Love, Sean Clifford, and Mark Willis.

Elgersma went undrafted this 2025 but was invited by the Packers to the rookie camp. He was also invited by the Buffalo Bills.

He built a strong CV in Canada as the main quarterback of the Wilfrid Laurier College football team. He went 11-1 last season and led the Golden Hawks to a Vanier Cup appearance.

He had a 73.5 percent pass completion last season that led to 4011 yards with 34 touchdowns. He only allowed 10 interception in that amount of passes.

Elgersma may be relatively unknown in the United States but he is regarded as among the most intelligent in his position. He also has the strength at 6’6 and vision that makes him a great signal caller.

Taylor Elgersma has Matt LaFleur impressed

Head coach Matt LaFleur himself witnessed the potential of the Canadian. This is why he was among those he closely watched during the camp.

“I watched the stuff from the Senior Bowl and then, obviously, talked to Vrable about that,” LaFleur said.

“We had him in on a 30 visit, so we got an opportunity to sit down with him. Another guy that loves football, and then just watching him throw an hour ago, he’s got a live arm. So, there’s a lot to like about him.”

There’s no assurance Elgersma will become part of the options this coming season. Love is the undisputed QB of the team.

However, many speculate his move may have something to do with future QB plans as Willis, even Clifford, might look to play somewhere else.
