Packers favored to land T.J. Watt in Steelers blockbuster trade for homecoming

The Pittsburgh Steelers may just decide to give T.J. Watt a record-setting contract extension.

But if they don't, a trade comes on the table. And if that happens, there's one storied NFL franchise who might wind up with the pass-rushing superstar.

The Green Bay Packers are the current favorites to land Watt, based on betting odds from Bovada.

It's not immediately clear what Green Bay would have to give up to get Watt, although it certainly would be multiple valuable assets.

The added cost of acquiring Watt if you're the Packers is that you then have to give him that extension that Pittsburgh didn't want to.

At the same time, though, Watt is well worth it.

The 30-year old from Wisconsin would be making a homecoming.

He has 108.0 career sacks in 121 NFL games, all with the Steelers.

Watt has also forced 33 fumbles in his career and intercepted seven passes.

He remains one of the NFL's most dominant defensive forces.

It'd be cool to watch him return home to the state where he grew up and played college football. And the Packers would be so much better for having acquired him.

It may not be a likely choice by the Steelers, but if they choose to go through with it, don't count Green Bay out.
