Packers' $4 million WR with 15-TD signals he is the odd man out after cryptic Stephen Curry post

The Green Bay Packers have some roster decisions to make—surprisingly, it's not the defense that needs help, but rather the wide receiver room, which may be overcrowded. It appears rookie Matthew Golden has impressed enough to potentially push a fellow receiver out of Green Bay.

“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."

Romeo Doubs has long been rumored as the odd man out, frequently appearing in trade speculation. Most recently, he's been linked as a possible replacement for Mike Williams on the Chargers, following Williams' unexpected retirement.

“The Green Bay Packers would undoubtedly love to keep Romeo Doubs and haven't indicated any intention to trade him, but it's time they did. Now, the perfect destination has emerged. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is surprisingly retiring from the NFL. It's a decision few saw coming, and it leaves the Chargers with a potential problem at wide receiver,” Lombardi Ave’s Freddie Boston wrote.

Adding more fuel to the rumors, Doubs recently posted something cryptic on Instagram, which many fans interpreted as a sign that he may know what's coming. Steelers Nation’s Anthony G. Halkias II believes it could indicate frustration with his current role in Green Bay.

“The post quickly caught the attention of football fans, many of whom saw it as a sign that something might be going on behind the scenes in Green Bay. While nothing has been confirmed, the image sparked speculation that Doubs may be frustrated with his role or future with the team,” Halkias wrote.

Cryptic social media posts often signal that a player has been informed about an impending change. In Doubs’ case, it seems likely he has been updated on his future with the Packers—and he might not be thrilled about it.
