One of the keys to being very good at fantasy football is understanding which players new to teams might be in the best systems for their skills. No matter how great Saquon Barkley is, for instance, he is far better for the Philadelphia Eagles than the New York Giants. This is where one of the Seattle Seahawks' NFC West rivals comes in.
Some trades haven't happened yet, but could. The Miami Dolphins could still deal a couple of players before Week 1 of the 2025 season. One is cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and the other is wide receiver Tyreek Hill. In a recent Bleacher Report article, they tease the idea of Hill going to the San Francisco 49ers.
That makes sense. The 49ers could use another offensive weapon.
The 49ers are pitched to add Tyreek Hill which is a headache the Seahawks don't need
San Francisco traded Deebo Samuel this offseason, and while the team still has George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and Brandon Aiyuk, the 49ers would love to have another weapon. Hill would certainly be that.
The Dolphins moving Hill after June 1 would be the most logical move. After the first of June, any trade involving Hill would save the Dolphins nearly $15 million. If they had moved Hill before then, Miami would have lost cap space.
The 49ers have the cap room to bring in Hill. Plus, while Aiyuk is on the roster, there are questions about how ready he will be for the start of the season after tearing an ACL and MCL in October of last season. Promising receiver Ricky Pearsall is dealing with a hamstring injury, and the timeline for his return is unknown.
After signing quarterback Brock Purdy to an extension this offseason for five years and $265 million, the 49ers are not going to want to waste a year by not trying to be great. They aren't long removed from reaching the Super Bowl, and defensively, with the hire of Robert Saleh as defensive coordinator, they should be fine.
Adding a player like Hill makes them potentially far more explosive offensively. The Seahawks have to face San Francisco twice a year, and Seattle could still be ascending while San Francisco remains stagnant. Any hopes of winning the NFC West would likely mean Seattle beating the 49ers at least once in 2025.
Should the 49ers bring in Tyreek Hill, that match-up becomes even more challenging. The Seahawks would still have the talent to possibly defeat San Francisco, but Seattle doesn't need San Francisco adding high-level talent at this point.
