Four years ago, the Houston Texans had a coach on their coaching staff who made a promise to the Houston community, he has been holding true to his word ever since.
If you're a Texans fan, and you have never been to Houston, then you may realise that there are actually quite a few homeless people in the metro area. Unfortunately, these people don't quite get the help that they need on a day-to-day basis. Frank Ross, the Texans special teams coordinator, helps with that just a bit.
Ross started a non-profit organization to help give homeless people in the greater Houston area, by giving them haircuts, food, clothes, and more. Here is some information from the website about what exactly Ross and his team do:
Mission Statement
As its primary mission, COACH ROSS CUTS brings pride and dignity to members of the Houston Area Homeless Community with haircuts, opportunities for limited medical care, nutrition counseling, new and clean clothing, and provision of hygiene supplies. Elevating self-esteem, allowing people an opportunity to feel good about themselves, and to socialize with others in fellowship is how we at COACH ROSS CUTS succeed at helping others "One Haircut at a Time."
What We Do
An NFL Coach, Frank Ross, is the founder of this non-profit charity that has been hosting events to attract homeless persons as recipients of these services for the past four years. Players, other coaches and staff, and volunteers from the community all lend a hand.
Especially noted are the professional barbers who give entire days away from their employment to give selflessly to this effort. Many social service agencies such as Covenant House, Moving Waters, Reach the Homeless, and Star of Hope are but a few of the partnering agencies.
Vendors such as Olive Garden and others generously donate their food and services as well.
On Monday, it was revealed that Ross will once again continue to help the community. To help or donate to the foundation and the cause, you can visit the website here, and showing your support could go a long way in helping someone who may just need the smallest change to help brighten their day, week, or even life.
What Ross is doing is awesome, and you'd like to hope he can continue doing it every single year for as long as he will be allowed to.
