Oilers' Mattias Janmark Fires Bold Comments at Kings Players After Huge Game 5 Win

The Oilers really took it to the Kings last night, dominating the play and leaving California with a win, and Mattias Janmark made some bold comments.

Mattias Janmark scored the go-ahead goal at 7:12 of the third, sending the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 5 of their Western Conference First Round series Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena.

The victory means the Oilers have won three straight games, all comeback wins, putting a franchise playoff first on the board. Following the game, Janmark had several parting shots that he fired towards the Kings players.

'I think the feeling was really there after the first period that we're outplaying 'em, we got them where we want, and now we just got to push,' Janmark said. 'Keep pushing the gas. And even when they scored, just try to get back, and 'Kaner' got it right back, and away we went.'

Janmark scored on a bounce off Viktor Arvidsson's shot, scoring on a wrist shot from the lower half of the left circle to break the 1-1 tie. It was only his second goal in the series and only his fourth total of the season, including regular-season play.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sealed the win with an empty-netter at 19:02, assisted by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Draisaitl now has points in 19 straight games against the Kings

Draisaitl extended his playoff point streak against the Kings to 19 games, tying Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier for the longest such streak against one team in NHL history (17 goals, 19 assists).

The Oilers take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, with Game 6 on Thursday in Edmonton.

Edmonton goaltender Calvin Pickard stopped 21 shots for the Oilers. Edmonton has dominated the third period, leading the Kings 13-5 overall, as well as being 8-0 in the last three.
