Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl recently joined an interview on the NHL's first full night of hockey on Amazon Prime Video, and revealed a hilarious quirk.
Former NHL defenceman Jason Demers asked Draisaitl about the German stirring his beers with a spoon. Draisaitl confirmed it, and explained that he's trying to get rid of the carbonation in the drink. It sounds like it may be his personal hangover cure.
"Yeah, that's true. I guess I'm not the biggest fan of the carbonation in it, so sometimes if you have a couple, they sit nicer on the stomach if you take the carbonation out."
- Leon Draisaitl
It may sound a little strange to people here, but perhaps it's a thing from Leon's homeland Germany that's known well for their beer. If not, Draisaitl could just be a strangely picky drinker.
Whatever the reason is behind this quirk of Draisaitl's, it's a great example of his extremely unique personality that Oilers fans have grown to love. Draisaitl has evolved from a player that was criticized for being overpaid to one of the greatest scorers in this era of the NHL, and consistently a beast for the Oilers in the playoffs. Now that Draisaitl signed a contract extension for 8 more seasons , he could go down as one of the greatest players in franchise history. He's positioned for a great year this year being flanked by two offensive talents in Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson.
Draisaitl and the Oilers will look to get their first points of the season against the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night after being shut out by the Winnipeg Jets in Game One. It can only go up from here, Oilers fans!
