Matt Rempe has been known to injure his opponents often, and while this was one incidental, it left Troy Stecher of the Edmonton Oilers clutching his face.
In recent days, Matt Rempe has seemingly gotten on the wrong side of the officials as he was called for a ridiculous penalty, but on Sunday, it appears as though the NHL referee's have learnt from their mistake.
During the second period of a matchup with the Edmonton Oilers, defenseman Troy Stecher tried to change momentum by laying a hit on Matt Rempe, but unfortunately for the blue liner, the monster forward tried to brace himself.
Simply put, this was just a matchup of one of the NHL's tallest players against one of their shortest, and as a result, the smaller defenseman came away with plenty of blood and a little worse for ware.
While there was some blood on the ice as Stecher was taken to the bench, everything appears to be fine with him, as he was not taken away to the locker room but instead stayed in the game, which is great news for an Oilers team that needs every healthy body available on the blue line.
Thankfully, the officials in the case exercised restraint, as they held onto their whistles seeing that this was just incidental contact from Rempe, who has certainly earned the reputation that he's been given after countless intentional and very dangerous hits to the head of his opponents.
Ultimately, this is just one of very few occasions where Rempe was not in the wrong when it came to a physical hit on his opponent, and with the game tied at one heading into the third period, it's clear that his play as of late has helped the team build momentum towards a place in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
