With one week of the NFL Preseason in the books, the New York Giants must feel good about the status of their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart.
The first-rounder entered the matchup against the Buffalo Bills after a short-lived run by Russell Wilson and delivered a performance that has been talked about plenty since.
Recently, CBS Sports ranked Dart's performance above the Cleveland Browns quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, giving him the No. 1 spot for the first week of the preseason.
"Dart had the most impressive outing of any rookie quarterback in my mind because he was going up against some of the Buffalo starters and performed well in that settling," CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan wrote.
"The Ole Miss product came in after Russell Wilson got the start and played the opening drive. In all, Dart was in the driver's seat for three scoring drives on his four first-half possessions. Dart looked comfortable in the pocket, made tight window throws, and when the pressure started to get home, he showed off his mobility with 24 yards on the ground."
The 25th overall pick came in and completed 63 percent of his passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. His highlight play, a 28-yard throw to LJ Humphrey, was praised after the former Ole Miss star put the throw right on target while getting rushed and taking a hit.

"Me and [LJ Humphrey] have been connecting a lot during camp and whatnot," Dart said after the victory against the Bills. "He's been a great contested catcher on go balls. I liked my matchup one-on-one, and he was able to win over the top, and made a great play."
One preseason game won't give Jaxson Dart the keys to the franchise. New York's head coach, Brian Daboll, was excited to see his quarterback put together a noteworthy performance, but there's always room for improvement.
"There's things he can be better at, but we missed some opportunities on third down," Daboll said, reflecting on Dart's game. "Some drops, it would've been even better for him and us, but he's a confident young player and he's improved since he's been here. Still got a long way to go, but I enjoy working with him on the sidelines. He sees the game well. ... I'm glad he's here."
As a team, the Giants won't overreact to one good performance. Dart will have two more opportunities to gain snaps before the NFL fires up the regular season. At that point, Russell Wilson will take over as the full-time starter, barring any shocking changes.
For the time being, the Giants have every right to be optimistic about their young passer.
"After seeing Dart's debut, it's hard not to be excited if you're a New York Giants fan," Sullivan finished.
