NY Giants Make Crucial Malik Nabers Announcement

All is well for Malik Nabers and the New York Giants.

Earlier this week, the Giants were holding their breath as they watched their star wide receiver lay on the ground for a short period of time. It was clear that Nabers was in pain and potentially dealing with an injury.

Clearly, that was a bad sign. The situation went from bad to worse when Nabers got up, went back inside, and wouldn't return for the remainder of the practice. There was confirmation that Nabers was dealing with a shoulder injury and was held out for the remainder of practice so he could get evaluated further.

Shortly after the Giants wrapped up practice, there was good news coming out of New Jersey. Behind the scenes, the team downplayed the severity of Nabers' setback and didn't believe he was going to miss extended time.

On Wednesday, the Giants had a scheduled day off. It was a positive situation for Nabers, who could use the time to rest and recover from the minor setback he was experiencing. All of the attention would be placed on his availability for Thursday morning's practice session.

Fortunately, the New York Giants had positive news. According to the head coach, Brian Daboll, Nabers is good to go and was suited up for the session.

Throughout the offseason, Nabers has dealt with a setback. Heading into the team's spring sessions, Nabers was recovering from a toe injury. He was ruled out for OTAs and the mandatory minicamp. At the time, Brian Daboll made it clear that the team was just being cautious.

When Nabers spoke on his toe concerns at the start of training camp, he made it clear that rehab was helpful. And while they are still taking it day by day, surgery is not on the table for the star wide receiver.

"The toe is good. In spring, we had a great rehab to try to get me back. So, I'm back, feeling good, feeling a little bit better, and healthy. Out there, overall, I feel good," Nabers told reporters. "[Surgery] is not up in the air. Decisions will be made when the time is made. Right now, I'm just focusing on locking in and getting ready for the season. Being out there with my guys, it felt good to get out there and run around."

Nabers is looking forward to his sophomore season with the Giants. After joining the organization as the sixth-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Nabers put together a Pro Bowl-worthy performance in 15 games. He was targeted 170 times, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.

This year, Nabers has Russell Wilson throwing him passes, with Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart in the mix. The young star proved that he could produce no matter who is under center. With some consistency, he could have another major season.
