NY Giants' Jaxson Dart Slaps Elite Label on Shocking Player

Perhaps, the word "elite" gets thrown around too loosely these days when talking sports, but New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart used it to describe one of his teammates this week.

Following another Giants practice session, Dart had a positive description for his fellow rookie, Cam Skattebo, who has seemingly had an impressive first training camp so far.

"He's been elite out there," Dart said on 'Up & Adams' following practice on Tuesday.

"I knew coming into it, when you watch the Texas game, he caught the fade against a really good safety against Texas. He kind of was able to shield him off and catch that over his outside shoulder, so that was already super impressive from what I saw."

Skattebo enters a backfield situation in New York where carries are available to those who earn it during tough training camp days. With the Giants living in the post-Saquon era, they don't have a superstar back who will take up league-leading carries when healthy.

The 23-year-old rookie might be a mid-round pick, but he has a real chance to play a big role for the Giants' offense in 2025.

"It's been fun playing with [Cam Skattebo]. He's my locker buddy, so he has a ton of energy every single day," Dart added.

Skattebo just wrapped up a four-year career in college after playing with two different teams. He started his run with Sacramento State before moving to Arizona State for the 2023 NCAA season.

During his first run at ASU, Skattebo took on 164 carries for 783 yards. He caught 24 passes for 286 yards. The running back totaled 10 touchdowns.

In his second and final season at Arizona State, Skattebo started all 13 games he played. He took on 293 carries to produce 1,711 yards. He scored 21 touchdowns on the ground. In the receiving game, Skattebo caught 45 passes for 605 yards. He added three touchdowns to his total for the season.

The Giants called on the 23-year-old running back with their fourth-round pick. He enters the organization in a strong rookie class, which includes Dart and the other first-rounder, Abdul Carter. Skattebo might have a chance to get more regular-season reps than Dart this year, but they could be a key combo in the future for years to come.
