Notable former Seahawks players show up big in Week 1

That didn’t take long.

New coaching staffs often mean that team’s players find their way around the NFL even more than usual, and the Seattle Seahawks have draft picks spread across the league now.

Darrell Taylor among notable ex-Seahawks who showed up big in Week 1 - Field Gulls

A couple of them made big impressions on their new teams already. Painfully enough, it was in two particular areas that might be a bit of a sore spot for fans.
The Chicago Bears just turned a sixth-round pick into one heck of a debut, vis-a-vis our beloved Darrell Taylor.

On a day when the Seahawks had no QB-to-the-ground sacks, this one certainly raises an eyebrow. Clearly Taylor doesn’t do what Mike Macdonald wants edge players to do, but also clearly, he’s still really explosive.

I have no ill will towards DT, mostly just regret over a guy who did some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever seen on a field and his inability to put it all together. Hope it works out.

A player I personally had far more warm fuzzies about turned the first ever kickoff return TD with the new NFL rules.

DeeJay Dallas took it to the house in a valiant effort to keep the Arizona Cardinals as relevant as the media wants them to be.

Tyler Lockett approved. I would rather have this Dee than Dee Williams, but I’m excited he got to have this big moment.

Perhaps Seattle’s biggest departure had a very quiet debut. Tackle machine Jordyn Brooks recorded only four for the Miami Dolphins, who barely held off the Jacksonville Jaguars. His former teammate Bobby Wagner had 10 tackles (3 TFLs) but the Washington Commanders were shredded by Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Colby Parkinson had a respectable four catches for 47 yards in his Los Angeles Rams debut against the Detroit Lions, while his fellow ex-Seahawks tight end Will Dissly had a catch for 13 yards but three opening quarter penalties in his Los Angeles Chargers debut.

As an honorable mention even though he left in 2023, Chargers defensive tackle Poona Ford recorded his first career interception.
