Sam Darnold is among the key NFL players who changed teams during an interesting offseason as the quarterback is set to begin his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is an exciting team to watch at quarterback with Darnold, and the franchise also selecting Jalen Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft.
The NFL’s official X account took to social media to show off Darnold in his new threads. Fresh off the best season of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold already looks at home wearing the Seahawks throwback uniforms.
“Seattle Sam 🔥,” the NFL posted on June 5, 2025.
The post took place during voluntary OTAs, but Darnold also took part in the Seahawks minicamp practices as well. Darnold admitted that signing with Seattle “happened so fast” after Seattle traded Geno Smith.
“You’re kind of narrowing things down,” Darnold explained during a May 29, 2025, interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” per Seattle Sports. “I’m talking to my agent and all the sudden we find out Geno is potentially getting traded. When we found that out, that was kind of like, okay, Seattle’s in the mix for sure. Things just kind of happened behind the scenes and before you know it there’s certain things moving.
“It all happened so fast. You don’t really know like two days before you sign, and all the sudden I knew — especially after the Geno trade happened — I felt like this could be a good place.”

Mike Macdonald on Seahawks’ Offseason Goals: ‘We Wanted to Be Tough & Connected’
The vibes are good in Seattle after the team completed its annual minicamp practices. Head coach Mike Macdonald noted that the Seahawks headed into the offseason with the goal of being “tough and connected.”

“The feeling you want going into the whole offseason program, we wanted to be tough and connected,” Macdonald said on June 11, per Seahawks.com. “I think we’re on our way to being tough. We haven’t had to prove it yet with pads on, but definitely feel like we’re a connected group. I think we’ve made a lot of strides confidence-wise in the schemes we are running and understanding what’s expected and just how we roll here in general.
“So I’m really excited about this group. They’re a lot of fun to coach. I think I speak for the whole coaching staff when I say that. It’s good that we’re going into a break here so you can kind of regather and take a breath and then kind of recalibrate going into camp, but I tell you what, I think I speak for the whole team, we’re really excited to get this team going starting in training camp.”
The Seahawks Defense Is Ahead of the Offense: Insider
Milroe received rave reviews for his performance during minicamp. Darnold’s play appears to have been a mixed bag with The News Tribune’s Gregg Bell noting that the quarterback and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak have “some work to do.”

“Seahawks end minicamp. Heading into training camp starting July 23 the starting defense is far ahead of the offense, as it should be,” Bell explained in a June 11, message on X. “The D is this team’s obvious strength. Sam Darnold, Klint Kubiak have some work to do.”
