The Las Vegas Raiders have made several changes to their staff over the last couple of seasons.
Just this year, the league and owner Mark Davis were able to approve former players Tom Brady and Richard Seymour 10.% of his equity, giving them minority ownership of the team. Now, Davis and the NFL have approved two others to each have a stake in the ownership.
The NFL approved giving businessmen Egon Durban and Michael Meldman 7.5% of the franchise, giving them both a 15% stake combined. Durban is the CEO of a private equity firm specializing in technology investments, while Meldman is the owner of Discovery Land Company and one of the three founders of Casamigos tequila.
Davis will remain the majority owner of the team, with more than 40% of the control. He will still have full decision-making powers with the team and will still have voting rights at league meetings.
The owner has also made it clear that he wants Brady to have a big say in things going forward. While that story is still developing, it should be interesting to see what powers these new-found owners will have in store for the franchise going forward.
