The New York Jets’ final three possessions on Monday night ended with two field-goal attempts doinked off the left upright by kicker Greg Zuerlein and a diving interception by Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson.

While that was going on, Buffalo kicker Tyler Bass made a 22-yard field goal with 3:43 to play to make the difference in the Bills’ 23-20 victory in an AFC East game.

The Jets lost in their first game under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. The defensive coordinator added the responsibility when Robert Saleh was fired one week ago.

Zuerlein doinked field-goal attempts of 32 yards with 55 seconds left in the third quarter and 43 yards with 9:44 remaining on a blustery night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The only turnover of the game occurred on a deep pass by New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was intercepted by Johnson when wide receiver Mike Williams slipped down.

Rodgers completed 23-of-35 passes for 294 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He hit a 52-yard Hail Mary to wide receiver Allen Lazard on the final play of the first half.

Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen completed 19-of-25 passes for 215 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and ran for one touchdown.

The game featured 22 accepted penalties – 11 against each team – for 204 yards.

Six players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field during the Buffalo-New York game:

· Bills offensive tackle Tylan Grable (Jacksonville State) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Bills safety Kareem Jackson (Alabama) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Jets safety Jaylen Key (UAB/Alabama) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Bills linebacker Nicholas Morrow (Huntsville) did not record any stats.

· Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley (Theodore, Alabama) had one tackle. Mosley’s 135th NFL game was the first that he didn’t start. Mosley returned after missing the previous two games because of a toe injury.

· Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (Alabama) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Jamien Sherwood (Auburn) started at linebacker for the Jets. Sherwood led New York with a career-high 13 tackles. He had recorded 12 tackles in two of the Jets’ previous five games this season.

· Bills defensive end Javon Solomon (Troy) did not record any stats.

· Quincy Williams (Wenonah) started at linebacker for the Jets. Williams made six tackles.

· Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama) started at defensive tackle for the Jets. Williams made three tackles and recorded one sack.

Buffalo (4-2) plays the Tennessee Titans at noon CDT Sunday at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

New York (2-4) plays the Pittsburgh Steelers at 7:20 p.m. Sunday at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. NBC will televise the game.
