The National Football League is set to reveal its full 2025 regular-season schedule on Wednesday, May 14, but the leaks and rumors are already heating up. Given that the Kansas City Chiefs are always a top draw for the league, fans can expect to hear reports much earlier—including this one.

According to a report from Front Office Sports writer Eric Fisher, the NFL is nearing a deal with YouTube to stream the league’s second game of the season. The game will reportedly feature the Chiefs as the visiting team against their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, in São Paulo, Brazil.

Early leaks suggest the Chiefs will kick off the season in Brazil to be streamed free on YouTube.

The Chargers were already announced as a home team for a Brazilian showcase for the NFL this season, but the opportunity to make it an inter-divisional contest adds considerable spice to the matchup knowing both teams were playoff contenders a year ago.

Specifically, the game will reportedly take place on September 5, one day after the traditional Thursday Night Football, which this year belongs to the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Fisher, unlike last year’s Brazil game, which was available exclusively on Peacock, this year’s contest is rumored to be free on YouTube. Given the reach of the platform, the NFL could be hungry to claim its biggest streaming audience ever, surpassing the 24.3 million who tuned in for Netflix’s Christmas Day doubleheader last season—one which also featured Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are already going to be a regular primetime draw for the NFL's major broadcasting partners, with games scheduled against the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and more. A season-opening game against the Chargers makes sense for the league to kick off a new year with staggering numbers.

While nothing is official, it looks like Chiefs fans can start planning for a season-opening trip to Brazil—or at least a watch party on YouTube.
