2024 didn't go the way Maxx Crosby had hoped. The 2023 season ended with so much promise and he was a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. 2024 was marred by poor play from the Las Vegas Raiders team and Crosby missed five games due to injury.
It was the first time he even missed a single game due to injury in a season. While Crosby still played well and made the Pro Bowl, he's not in the running for many NFL Honors. However, the star defensive end is earning a prestigious award for the work that he's done off the field.
NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent Sr. announced on Wednesday that Crosby is the team winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for the Raiders.
"Crosby exemplifies excellence through his foundation supporting teen substance abuse intervention, youth health and wellness and other charitable causes. Learn about Crosby’s contributions and initiatives he supports," Vincent wrote.
Now, the team winner is not the overall winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. That winner is still to be determined and Crosby will be in the mix as he is one of the 32 nominees. Many consider that to be the most prestigious award for an NFL player as it goes beyond just football.
