NFL: Jordan Stout (Honaker) punts six times for Ravens, James Mitchell (Union) has one catch for Lions in preseason games

James Mitchell (Union) started at tight end for the Detroit Lions and Jordan Stout (Honaker) got his kicks for the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday during NFL preseason games.

Mitchell had one catch for 13 yards for the Lions in their 24-23 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

His reception came near the end of the first quarter on a pass from Nate Sudfeld.

Sudfeld was 14-of-27 for 196 yards with a touchdown and an interception as he tries to nail down the backup job behind Detroit starter Jared Goff. Hendon Hooker, who returned after sustaining a concussion last week against the New York Giants, was 12-of-15 for 150 yards while running for a touchdown as he tried to make some headway in the competition.

Meanwhile, Stout averaged 40.2 yards on six punts for the Ravens in their 13-12 victory over the visiting Atlanta Falcons. He had a long of 48 yards and thrice pinned the Falcons inside their 20-yard line. He was also the holder on Justin Tucker’s lone extra point attempt, which was good.

Tavius Robinson took advantage of an opportunity to make a game-changing play.

Robinson stopped Jase McClellan well short of the goal line on a two-point conversion in the final minute to preserve Baltimore's victory. Robinson, a linebacker who made one start for the Ravens last season as a rookie, was in Saturday's game at the end after Asida Isaac started cramping.

“I think a play like that keeps building my confidence,” Robinson said. “I remember at this time last year being so nervous before games, playing slow and not knowing what to expect. Now, being through a whole season, I know it's a long season, I know how the weeks go, so feel a lot more comfortable on the field.”

Josh Johnson completed all 11 of his pass attempts and Emory Jones added a long touchdown throw in the second half for the Ravens. The Falcons scored with 36 seconds remaining on a 3-yard run by McClellan, but their two-point try went nowhere and Atlanta did not bother trying an onside kick after that.

Lamar Jackson and Kirk Cousins, each team's No. 1 quarterback, did not play. Neither did Atlanta rookie Michael Penix Jr.
