NFL hits Leonard Williams with news he doesn't want to hear after his monster day in Seahawks win over Jets

The Seattle Seahawks battled back from down two touchdowns early to defeat the New York Jets in Week 13.

Leonard Williams, 'Playing Out Of His Mind Right Now,' Sparks Seahawks Comeback Victory

A big reason for their win was the incredible performance from Seahawks defensive lineman Leonard Williams. But ahead of the team's Week 14 matchup with their NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL had some bad news for Williams.

Seahawks DL Leonard Williams fined by the NFL for illegal act committed in Week 13 vs. Jets

In Week 13, Williams' fingerprints were all over the team's win against his former team. He finished the game with three tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, and, oh yeah, he returned his interception to the house for a pick-six. His monster week rightfully landed him the NFL's NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Just ahead of the team's matchup with the Cardinals, the NFL announced that it has fined Williams $16,883.00 for grabbing the facemask of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, an action the league deemed to be "Unnecessary Roughness." The league handed out 17 fines from the Week 13 slate, and only two were more expensive than Williams'.

Hopefully, Williams' doesn't allow this fine to take away any of the joy or momentum he gained from his next-level performance in Week 13. Seattle is going to need him to play a big role as they try to punch their ticket to the postseason down the stretch. The Seahawks currently sit atop the NFC West with a 7-5 record. They are one game ahead of the Cardinals, and have the chance to complete the season sweep in Week 14 with the team already owning the Week 12 win over their divisional rival.
